SWV baseball scores first win of season
The Southwest Valley baseball team is off to a 1-2 start for the 2015 season.
Their lone win came during the I-35 tournament Saturday when they defeated East Union 6-5. Southwest Valley scored four runs in the seventh inning to get the win. Cody McMann drove in the game-winning run.
Chance Cobb had the only multi-hit game for Southwest Valley when he went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Nick Frederick got the win in relief as he went four innings, allowing one hit and two walks and striking out five.
Southwest Valley also lost to Wayne during the tournament, 14-4, in six innings.
Friday night, the Timberwolves lost 12-1 to Woodward-Granger. Frederick scored the lone run for the Timberwolves as he was 1-for-1.
The softball team meanwhile lost their lone game of the week Friday night when they fell 12-7 to Clarinda.
