SWV completes Lenox sweep

 LENOX — The Southwest Valley girls’ basketball team completed its regular season sweep of the Lenox Tigers, thanks to their 57-40 win last Tuesday in corning.

The Timberwolves had a two-point lead after one quarter, but outscored the Tigers 18-14 in the second to take a 32-26 lead into halftime.

The difference in the game was the third quarter when Southwest Valley outscored Lenox 13-1.

Marie Palmer had 16 points and 18 rebounds for the double-double. Regan Jessen meanwhile had 11 points, along with four assists and four steals.

Lexi Bronner meanwhile had nine points with five rebounds, four steals and three assists. Janelle Gibler scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds.

On Friday night, Southwest Valley lost to Central Decatur by a 82-48 score.

The Timberwolves trailed by 10 points early and never recovered.

Palmer had 10 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.

Southwest Valley played Red Oak Monday night. Results weren’t available as of press time.

They play their last regular season game Tuesday night when they host East Union. 

The 2A regional basketball tournament begins Saturday for Southwest Valley as they take on Earlham in the opening round. The game will start at 7 p.m. at the Corning Activities Center.
