Theatre reopens Friday
RED OAK — After sitting empty for more than a year, the Grand Theatre in Red Oak will reopen Friday night as a not-for-profit operation.
Run by volunteers, the theatre will feature the movie “Charlie St. Cloud,” with showtimes of 7 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well as a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. Tickets are $2.
The theatre closed in June 2009, but was recently purchased by Red Oak Downtown LLC, with the goal of opening it as a not-for-profit.
A board formed, and for several weeks, volunteers have been cleaning the building and making repairs.
This week’s movie, starring Zac Efron, is about a man keeping a promise he made to his brother who died in a car wreck or pursuing the girl he loves. A new movie will be featured each week.
