Third grader recognized at art show

Mya Southwell, a third grader at Inman Primary School, recently received a certificate of appreciation for participating in the 66th Annual Iowa Association of School Boards Convention Student Art Show. 

This event took place Nov. 16-17, in Des Moines. 

Southwell’s rendition of “Starry Nights” by Vincent Van Gogh, was an oil pastel she made in Mrs. Euken’s art class. 

The following students were also recognized:

• Red Oak Middle School student Charity Stapleton, under the direction of Curtis Adams, for her work in colored pencil in preparation for a painting of a dragon.

•  Red Oak High School student Casey Dykes, under the direction of Jason Uhl, for a pencil drawing based upon the work of Spanish artist Gabriel Moreno, currently of Madrid, Spain.
