Three Tigers named All-Hawkeye 10
Three Tigers were recognized in the Hawkeye 10 All-conference team for the 2009 season.
Senior Kaely Piller was named to the first team as a setter.
Piller finished this season with 523 assists while playing in all 92 of the Tigers games. She served 337 of 335 (96 percent) with 31 aces and had 71 kills.
Piller was third in the conference, behind Jordan Leehy of Lewis Central (772) and Jessi Arneson of Atlantic (688) in assists this season. Both Leehy and Arneson were voted honorable mention to the all-conference team.
The honorable mention list also included seniors Lauren Fellers and Jami Redel of Red Oak.
Fellers led the Tigers in kills this season with 197 (12th in the Hawkeye 10) to go with 73 blocks (third in the Hawkeye 10) this year.
Redel moved out of the regular rotation to libero late in the season, leading the Tigers with 257 digs (second in the Hawkeye 10). She was also 273 of 307 (88.9 percent) with 23 aces from the serving line.
Seniors Anna Wernimont of Atlantic, Laura Steinaur of Clarinda, and junior Natalie Olberding of Lewis Central were unanimous selections by the coaches of the Hawkeye 10.
Atlantic and Kuemper Catholic were represented by the most players with five apiece of the 33 players selected.
