Tigers fall on road to Essex, Shenandoah
With most of their games rained out later in the week, the Red Oak softball team lost to both Essex and Shenandoah, earlier last week.
The most recent losses came Wednesday when Red Oak was swept in a varsity doubleheader versus Essex.
The Tigers lost the first game 18-0 in three innings and lost the second 14-4 in five innings.
In the first game, Essex scored 10 runs in the third inning to clinch the win via mercy rule.
In the second game, Essex scored its 14th run in the fifth inning to get the 10-run mercy rule.
Last Monday, Red Oak was in Shenandoah as they lost to the Fillies 11-1 in five innings. Shenandoah scored three runs in the fifth inning to get the win via 10-run rule.

Maranda Gowdy, Belle Perkins and Shelbie Perez had hits for the Tigers.
Red Oak had been scheduled for games versus Lewis Central Thursday, as well as competing in the Atlantic tournament, but neither happened because of inclement weather.
The tournament was canceled.
However, the softball doubleheader against Lewis Central has been re-scheduled for June 18 at the Red Oak Sports Complex.
Red Oak was also scheduled to play Glenwood last Tuesday, but the game was postponed.
The Tigers were originally set to play Abraham Lincoln that day, but that has since been canceled.
Red Oak returns to action Tuesday evening when they go to City Park in Clarinda to take on the Cardinals in a JV/Varsity doubleheader. It all starts at 5:30 p.m.
This Wednesday night, Red Oak is back on the road as they go to Corning for a JV/varsity dubleheader versus Southwest Valley. It all starts at 5:30 p.m.
This Thursday, Red Oak has a varsity doubleheader at 5:30 in Council Bluffs versus St. Albert.
Friday and Saturday, Red Oak will compete in the Creston softball tournament.
