Tigers finish season 0-9

ATLANTIC — The Red Oak Tigers football team finished the season 0-9, following their loss to the Atlantic Trojans Friday night, 55-12.

Atlantic struck first by scoring four touchdowns in the first quarter. The first came on a Gunnar Blum 1-yard run, giving Atlantic a 7-0 lead with 10 minutes left in the first quarter.

Minutes later, Blum scored his second touchdown of the game on a 14-yard run. The Trojans missed the extra point, but led 13-0.

Derek Stork scored Atlantic’s third touchdown on a 12-yard run and soon they led 20-0 with four minutes left in the first quarter.

Harrison Hoegh completed a 13-yard touchdown pass to Sam Markham, which gave Atlantic a 27-0 lead.

Red Oak scored on the very next drive when Seth Esaias ran in a touchdown from 29-yards away. The Tigers missed the two-point conversion, but Red Oak trailed at the end of the first quarter, 27-6.

Atlantic scored three more touchdowns in the second quarter. Jacob Dvorak scored the first on a three-yard run, early in the second quarter. After Markham’s extra point, the score was 34-6.

Hoegh threw his second touchdown pass of the half to Ethan Westering for 20-yards, giving Atlantic the 41-6 lead.

The final touchdown came with 4:18 left in the half when Blum ran it 27-yards for his third rushing touchdown of the game. The score was 48-6 at halftime.

The game was scoreless for the third quarter. Atlantic scored their final touchdown on a 4-yard run by Logan Steffens, with 8:46 left in the fourth quarter. The score was 55-6 at that point.

Esaias scored the second touchdown for Red Oak on a 1-yard run with 1:12 left in the game. The Tigers missed the two-point conversion.
Esaias had 23 carries for 100 yards in the game.

The 0-9 mark gives Red Oak their first winless season since 2002.
