Tigers to open 2014 season at Glenwood

 The Iowa High School Athletic Association released the 2014 and 2015 schedule for all football classes Friday.

Red Oak

The Red Oak football team will once again be in Class 2A District 8, along with fellow Hawkeye 10 teams Clarinda, Kuemper Catholic and Shenandoah.

The Tigers open the 2014 season for the second straight year at Glenwood Aug. 29, one of two straight non-district games to kick off the year.

It will be the second straight season Red Oak plays on the road against Glenwood for its opener.

The first home game for Red Oak takes place Sept. 5 when they host Riverside.

Other home games next season will be against West Central Valley (Sept. 19), Treynor (Oct. 3), Prairie Valley (Oct. 10) and East Sac County (Oct. 24).

Remaining games this year will be against Shenandoah (Sept. 12), Kuemper Catholic (Sept. 26) and Clarinda (Oct. 17).

Southwest Valley

Southwest Valley will play its first season of 11-man football in Class 1A District 8.

The Timberwolves open the season Aug. 29 at home versus Clarinda Academy. Their remaining home games will be against Panorama (Sept. 12), Woodward Granger (Sept. 26), Van Meter (Oct. 17) and I-35 (Oct. 24).

Road games this season will be against Bedford (Sept. 5), Underwood (Sept. 19), Central Decatur (Oct. 3) and Des Moines Christian (Oct. 17).

Griswold

The Griswold Tigers move to District 1 of Class 1A for 2014-2015.

They play Bedford in the home opener Aug. 29.

Other home games this season will be against MVAO (Sept. 19), Westwood (Sept. 26), Logan-Magnolia (Oct. 10) and Tri-Center (Oct. 24).

Road games for Griswold will be against Clarinda Academy (Sept. 5), Audubon (Sept. 12), St. Albert (Oct. 3) and Riverside (Oct. 17).

8-Man District 8

Stanton, Essex and East Mills will all be playing in 8-man District 8.

The Vikings begin the season Aug. 29 at Guthrie Center. Their first home game is Sept. 5 against Lamoni.

Other home games for Stanton include East Mills (Sept. 19), Fremont-Mills (Oct. 3) and Lenox (Oct. 17).

Road games for Stanton will be at CAM (Sept. 12), Essex (Sept. 26), Sidney (Oct. 10) and Nishnabotna (Oct. 24).

Essex opens its season Aug. 29 at Lamoni. Their first home game is Sept. 5 against East Union.

Other home games this season include Sept. 19 versus CAM, Sept. 26 versus Stanton, Nishnabotna (Oct. 10) and Fremont-Mills (Oct. 24).

Road games for Stanton will be at Lenox (Sept. 12), Sidney (Oct. 3) and East Mills (Oct. 17).

East Mills begins its first season back in 8-man Aug. 29 at Boyer Valley. Their first home game is Sept. 5 versus West Harrison.

Remaining home games for East Mills will be versus Nishnabotna (Sept. 12), Lenox (Oct. 3) and Essex (Oct. 17).

Remaining road games for East Mills includes at Stanton (Sept. 19), Fremont-Mils (Sept. 26), CAM (Oct. 10) and Sidney (Oct. 24).
