Tigers take ninth at Shen tournament
SHENANDOAH — The Red Oak girls’ golf team finished ninth at the shortened Shenandoah Tournament Thursday.
The meet was shortened to nine holes due to rain. The Tigers finished with an over par score of 157. Clarinda won the meet with an over par score of 61. Shenandoah was second and Abraham Lincoln took third.
Ellen Fellers and Julie Sunberg were the top Red Oak scorers for the meet, each recording a 71.
Bevin Griffen had a 77 and Shelbie Perez had an 82.
Amber Milker of Nishnabotna took first with a 10-over par and Clarinda’s Sydney Rarick finished second with 13-over par.
Red Oak lost to the Corning golf team, last Monday, 231-274. Fellers had the high score for Red Oak as she recorded a 58 for the meet.
Sunberg was seven strokes back as she finished with a 65. Perez was behind Sunberg with a 70.
Griffen had an 81 and Reilly Black scored an 86 for the meet.
The medalist and runner-up for the meet were Bailey Heaton (53) and Kaleigh Westlake, both from Corning.
Red Oak was home Monday for a meet against Glenwood. Results weren’t available as of press time.
Tuesday, the Tigers will be on the road to face Sidney High School. Thursday, they’ll be at the Fox Run in Council Bluffs to play Lewis Central and Thomas Jefferson.
