Tigers win two at Creston

CRESTON — The Red Oak Tigers softball team picked up two wins at the Creston Tournament on Saturday.

Red Oak defeated Griswold 6-2 and Mount Ayr 5-4. The Tigers are now 9-10 on the season.

On Thursday, Red Oak was swept in a doubleheader by Lewis Central in Council Bluffs. The Tigers lost the first game, 5-0.

The second game was closer as Red Oak lost 4-3. Paige Isaacson, Ellaine Walker and Kristi Yardas scored the runs for Red Oak.

Isaacson was 1-for-3 at the plate, while Yardas was 1-for-2.
Lewis Central won the game on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh.

On Wednesday, Red Oak lost to Corning, 2-0. Holmgren was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Tigers, while Gabi French was 1-for-2 with a double.

The Tigers blew out Shenandoah, last Tuesday, 14-2. Caitlyn Smith was 4-for-4 at the plate with four runs scored. French, Cheyanne Nelson and Becca Leininger also scored multiple runs. Nelson was 3-for-3 at the plate with seven RBI.

French was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Holmgren was credited with the win for the Tigers as she pitched five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits with four strikeouts.
On June 6, the Tigers lost to Glenwood, 6-0.
