UPDATE: Weather Watch: Red Flag Warning in effect at noon

OMAHA — The National Weather Service Office in Omaha has issued a Red Flag Warning for all of Western Iowa, including Southwest Iowa.

The warning is in effect for Montgomery, Mills, Page, Fremont and Pottawattamie Counties from noon until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Dry, warm and windy weather is in the forecast for Southwest Iowa Tuesday. Winds will come out of the south from 15-20 miles per hour with gusts as high as 30.

Relative humidity will be between 15 to 20 percent. Temperatures will range from the mid 80s to possibly 90.

A red flag warning means critical fire conditions are occuring or will  occur shortly. Strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures combined together can create explosive fire potential.

Those with ongoing harvesting operations and off road vehicles are urged to use extra caution.

Also, always dispose of smoking materials in an appropriate manner. All outdoor burning is discouraged.

The fire weather will now be in effect for Wednesday afternoon.

Conditions will be similar for Wednesday, but no watches or warnings have been issued.
