UPDATED: Weather Watch: Tornado Watch plus Wednesday updates

5:59 p.m. Update: The flash flood warning for Eastern Montgomery County has been canceled.

5:37 p.m. Update: The tornado watch for Montgomery, Mills and Page Counties has been canceled.

4:37 p.m. Update: A flash flood warning is in effect for the Eastern half of Montgomery County, which includes the towns Villisca and Stanton, until 7:30 p.m. Also included in the warning are parts of Page, Adams and Taylor Counties.

Spotters providing reports to NWS are saying three inches of rain has fallen in the past three hours.

NWS says runoff with excessive rainfall could cause potential flash flooding to occur. NWS urges drivers to avoid to not attempt crossing water covered bridges, dips or low water crossings. Also, they urge to never try to cross a flowing stream, even a small one, on foot or in a car.

OMAHA-- The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a tornado watch for Montgomery, Mills, Page and Cass County until 7 p.m. Wednesday night.

The watch was issued before 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Thunderstorms, with rain to the point of a downpour, has been hitting Southwest Iowa for most of the day and are expected to continue for the rest of the afternoon, going into the evening hours.

The thunderstorms are possible for Thursday, as well.

A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect earlier, for the eastern half of Montgomery County, but it was canceled before its expiration.

As of now, there are no additional watches or warnings for the area, but the Red Oak Express will provide an update if things change.
