Vera C. Gillen, 96

Vera C. Gillen, 96, of Norwalk, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at the Norwalk Nursing and Rehab Center.  

Vera Cathaleen Gillen was born to Alva and Ethie (Davis) Hartley Nov. 7, 1914, near Kellerton.  

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Randall, Larry and Elton; sisters, Ila and Gladys; and brothers, Donald and Alva.  

Survivors include her son, Gary Gillen, of Des Moines; two grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services took place Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial was in the Hastings Cemetery. Visitation with the family was one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
