Vikings hold off CAM to go 2-0 before Districts

STANTON — The Stanton Vikings are 2-0 entering 8-man District 8 play this week, after defeating Cumberland Anita Massena (CAM) last Friday night, 18-15.

Jeff Marshall’s three touchdowns (two rushing), helped give Stanton their first 2-0 start since 2009.

Marshall, a junior, completed four passes for 96 yard, including a 52-yard touchdown pass to Brent Hanson. Defensively, Marshall had an interception that he returned for 26 yards.

Marshall was sacked three times by CAM, including twice by Matthew Williamson.

Greg Focht had a big rushing game as he finished with 18 carries for 107 yards. The senior also had two catches for 33 yards.

Tyler Walter had a big defensive game for the Vikings as he finished with 21 tackles (12 solo), a sack and a fumble recovery.
Focht and Ethan Johnson each had nine tackles.

For CAM, Dylan Amdor had a big night, finishing with 248 yards rushing and two touchdowns, including a 55 yard score. Amdor also had two receptions for 21 yards.

Devan Amdor led CAM with 10 tackles (six solo).

Stanton will be home again this Friday night as they play the East Mills Wolverines to open district play. The Wolverines are 2-0 after they crushed Lenox on Friday night, 55-6.

In last year’s week three meeting, Stanton defeated East Mills, 30-20.
