Villisca loses in five to Bedford Bulldogs
BEDFORD — The Villisca Blue Jays volleyball team’s season came to an end Wednesday night when they lost to the Bedford Bulldogs, 3-2, in the opening round of Regionals.
Bedford struck first, winning the first two games 27-25 and 25-21. Villisca didn’t go away quietly as they won games three and four 25-21 and 25-17.
The Bulldogs put an end to the Villisca season by winning game five 15-6.
Sheri Schaaf had a season high night in what would be her final volleyball match in her high school career.
Schaaf finished with 20 kills out of 43 attempts with 28 digs.
The Blue Jays also had big nights out of Jill Vanderhoof and Amanda Focht.
Vanderhoof had 12 kills out of 42 attempts with 26 digs and six serving aces.
As for Focht, she also had 12 kills, out of 33 attempst with 13 digs, a block and two assists.
For Bedford, Kayla Lindenmeyer had 15 kills and 12 digs, while Caila Raymond had 11 kills with 13 digs.
Haley Raymond recorded six kills with 23 assists and 17 digs.
With the loss, Villisca is 18-13 for the season.
The Bulldogs will go on to play Corning in the quarterfinals Tuesday night, in Bedford.
