Villisca tees off season with strong showing at Sidney

SIDNEY — The Villisca golf team opened with a strong showing at a triangular against Sidney and Nishnabotna, held in Sidney April 2.

The boys won the triangular, while the girls took second. The boys' finished with a score of 199. Sidney and Nishnabotna each had a 220, which put them in a tie for second.

Evan Baldwin, Dylan Dolch and Cole Sunderman were the top three finishers. Baldwin won the first place medal with a score of 43. Dolch took second with a score of 49 and Sunderman had a 51.

The girls finished with a team score of 260. Nishnabotna won the girls triangular with a score of 253. Sidney finished third with a score of 296.
Jill Vanderhoof was the top scorer for Villisca as she finished with a 58, putting the junior in a tie for second. Amanda Focht had a fourth place finish as she shot a 63.

Both teams will be competing in Shenandoah this week. The boys will compete Tuesday and the girls on Thursday.
