Viqueens open season with road victory
FARRAGUT — The Stanton volleyball team got off to a fast start last Tuesday with its 3-0 win against Nishnabotna in Farragut.
Stanton won all three games 25-9, 25-11 and 25-12.
In all the games, Nishnabotna kept close early, but fell behind.
Carmen Subbert covered all areas of the floor in her first senior start. Subbert led the team with 11 kills and 10 digs.
Haley Weis, Heidi Vanderholm, Moriah Kammerer and Allison Aufdenberg each scored two kills for the Viqueens.
Erin DeKay also stepped up for Stanton, finishing with eight kills and three blocks (two solo).
The Viqueens had 11 serving aces against the Blue Devils.
Macy Elwood served well for Stanton, going 16-for-18 with four aces. Logan Wagg had three serving aces as she was 12-for-13.
Stanton will have their first home match this season Thursday night against South Page.
The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Stanton travels to Missouri Valley to compete at the Missouri Valley Tournament.
