Danielle Woods has overcome much in her 32 years, but now she’s facing new foe. The good news is, she’s not having to go it alone.

Woods, of Red Oak, was diagnosed with Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) on the lower left part of her brain. She was treated last February with a targeted radiation treatment, but since then, she’s had more medical issues on her right side, including regional pain syndrome associated with autonomic dysfunction. She has constant pain on her right side.

Formerly a corrections officer at the Clarinda prison, she is now unemployed and has no income.

Saturday, there is a benefit at the Rainbow Cafe in Red Oak to assist her in paying for bills, and to show support.

People are truly amazing. They have helped me a lot.

The benefit for Danielle Woods is Saturday, Sept. 23, and open to people of all ages. It will be on the patio at the Rainbow Cafe in Red Oak. It starts at noon with the band B Side 3 playing until 2 p.m. For the next hour, Jenny Ellis of Red Oak will be the DJ, playing more music. There is a live auction at 3 p.m., with Grant Vrba of Red Oak taking the bids. The band Open Interest will play after the auction concludes Auction items may be donated; take them to the Rainbow before noon on Saturday or call Henry Devito at 712-621-1234 to make arrangements. Orders for t-shirts to support Woods will be taken at the event.
