YMCA to host annual dinner Oct. 7
The Montgomery County Family YMCA is hosting their annual Heritage Club Dinner at the Red Coach Inn and Restaurant Oct. 7.
The evening begins with a social hour at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. At this year’s dinner, Rand Fisher, President of the Iowa Area Development Group of West Des Moines will be the featured speaker.
Fisher has served as President of the Iowa Area Development Group (IADG) since his recruitment and selection in 1997. IADG was established in 1985 to provide economic development leadership for Iowa’s rural electric cooperatives.
IADG has been recognized by numerous federal and state agencies. The organization is committed to serving and supporting its members with a comprehensive approach to economic development. As a former executive assistant to Iowa’s governor, Fisher has insights into both the private and public sectors and matters related to business and government.
Fisher has a master’s degree from the University of Iowa and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Luther College. Graduating from Red Oak in 1973, he considers Red Oak his hometown. During his years here, Fisher, along with his sister Cyndi were involved in numerous extra-curricular activities throughout the community, and he is very proud of Red Oak’s institutions and community leaders.
Fisher and his wife Cyndi have three children: Meredith, Max and Maggie. His parents are Dr. Ransom and Norma Fisher; Ransom was the Red Oak High School Superintendent.
Also at the annual event, DJ Greg Brower and Vern Olson will be providing entertainment. There will be some YMCA tributes as well as the 2013 Inductees to the Montgomery County Family YMCA’s “Heritage Club Endowment Hall of Fame.”
Anyone who has made a donate to the Heritage Club is automatically involved to the event.
The Heritage Club was established to insure the Montgomery County Family YMCA will be here for generations of families to come. Principal funds are invested so the YMCA can earn interest to be placed in the YMCA’s Maintenance Reserve Fund for large replacement costs such as air conditioning, heating, pool, roof, carpeting, technology upgrades, etc. No donation is too small.
