Bernice A. Messer, 80

Bernice A. Messer, 80, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Stanton died July 27, 2009, at the Hospice House in Omaha, Neb.

Bernice Ann Messer, the daughter of Lawrence and Grace (Anderson) Peterson, was born Sept. 20, 1928, on a farm near Stanton.

Bernice was Valedictorian of her Stanton High School class of l946. She continued her education, graduating from Immanuel Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in l949. Bernice was married to Thomas C. Messer June 18, 1950. In 1968, Bernice and Tom moved to Stanton.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Thomas Messer of Omaha, Neb.; five children: Patrice (David) Roebuck of Columbia, S.C.; Julie (Tom) Smithson of South China, Maine; Mari (Dr. George) Tischenko of Orinda, Calif.; Gregg (Michelle) Messer of Adel; and Peter (Stephanie) Messer of Omaha, Neb.; ten grandchildren; two brothers and spouses: Don A. (Marlene) Peterson of Kansas City, Mo.; and Dennis (Sue) Peterson of Stanton.

Funeral Service were held Aug. 1 at Mamrelund Lutheran Church, Stanton. Burial in Mamre Cemetery, Stanton with Rev. Jerry Lamb, officiating.
