Boys Basketball District Preview: Red Oak plus 1A district semifinals
The focus for this week will be on the boys basketball teams now that most of the regionals for girls basketball are done with. Class 4A and 5A for girls play in the regional final Tuesday night.
For the Red Oak and Villisca boys basketball teams, they look to get one step closer to joining their counterparts and qualify for the state tournament.
Red Oak will be at Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs Tuesday night when they take on St. Albert in the district final. Both teams are coming off big wins in the district semifinals.
Red Oak defeated Clarinda in the semifinals, while St. Albert knocked off Treynor. This will be the first meeting between Red Oak and St. Albert since 2009.
The winner of Red Oak/St. Albert will advance on to substate. They will play the winner of Kuemper Catholic/IKM-Manning. The substate game will take place Saturday in Harlan.
Class 1A will be playing the district semifinals Tuesday night. Villisca will be home once again when they host South Page in District 13.

The Blue Jays have won both meetings against South Page this season. Their most recent win came Jan. 25 when they defeated the Rebels 85-45.
The other semifinal match-up for District 13 will be East Mills against Sidney. The two teams will square off in Sidney.
This will be the third meeting between Sidney and East Mills this season. Sidney has won both meetings this year.
