Tigers fourth at Winterset tournament

The Red Oak volleyball team wrapped up its regular season with a 2-3 record and a fourth place finish at the Winterset Volleyball Tournament Saturday.
The Class 2A, No. 12 ranked Tigers (24-10) were 2-1 in pool play with a win over Greene County 21-18, 18-21, 15-10 and the hosts 21-14, 14-21, 17-15 and a loss to Union 21-18, 21-19. They lost both of their matches in the medal round, falling to Webster City 21-12, 22-24, 9-15 and Van Meter 21-24, 24-22.
Keely Jones led the Tigers with 68 kills on the day. Ellie O’Neal added 43 kills.
Ella Blackman and Kaylee Erickson dished up 65 and 63 set assists each, respectively.
Red Oak opens postseason play at home tonight against the winner of Nodaway Valley and Panorama in the Class 2A, Region 4 quarterfinals. First serve is set for 7 p.m.

Red Oak falls in WIC tournament finals
Riverside picked up its third win of the season over Red Oak in a matchup of state rated teams in the finals of the Western Iowa Conference Volleyball Tournament Thursday in Underwood.
The Class 2A, No. 4 ranked Bulldogs (31-0 overall, 8-0 in the conference), after sweeping both regular season matchups with the No. 12 ranked Tigers (22-7 overall, 6-2 in the conference), were in control again in the 25-14, 25-22, 25-21 win in the championship match.
Kelly Jones led the Tigers with 14 kills and Kaylee Erickson led the way with 13 set assists. Mariel Ramirez had 12 digs.
Lilli Reed and Sydney Somers combined for 25 kills to lead Riverside.

Keely Jones had 18 kills and Ellie O’Neal 0 to lead Red Oak to a 25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 26-24 win over Treynor in the Western Iowan Conference Volleyball Tournament semifinals last Tuesday in Underwood.
The Tigers had an up-and-down hitting night but finished with 42 kills.
 Kaylee Erickson and Ella Blackman paced the offense with 18 and 16 set assists each, respectively.
Mariel Ramirez led the Tigers defense with 23 digs.

Red Oak swept Underwood 25-18, 25-23, 25-15 in the first round of the Western Iowa Conference Volleyball Tournament last Monday in Underwood.
Keely Jones led the Tigers’ attack with 12 kills. Natalie Johnson added five kills and Mylee Johnson four.
Kaylee Erickson paced the offense with 15 set assists. Ella Blackman added nine.
The defense was led by Sophie Snyder with 12 digs.
