Britt Small to perform at Red Oak event

The Red Oak Eagles Club and Red Oak Super 8 are hosting a fundraiser event June 3, to show support for a man who donates his time for veterans.

The benficiary of the event, Britt Small, is a disabled veteran and recipient of the purple heart. He continues to serve his country by performing for free all over the nation in veteran's hospitals, state homes, private care facilities and special events.

“I try to make them feel better‚” Small said. “I'm trying to reach those who haven't been welcomed home yet and welcome them home. We appreciate their service. It's a healing thing.”

Small pays for the expense to travel, perform and advocate for veterans and current issues that military members and their families face. He also works with the American Legion and mentors youth.

The fundraiser will support Small's organization, American Pride Entertainment, with travel money.

“The Red Oak Eagles are supportive of the military, veterans and our local authorities,” said John Haidsiak, Eagles Club President. “Britt puts on free shows, but it costs him money. By doing this we feel its one way to support our veterans and let them know we are there for them.”

The fundraiser will take place at the Eagles Lodge, 200 E. Washington Ave., beginning at 5 p.m. There will be food, raffles, a cash bar, music, dancing, and Small's patriotic performance.
