Court of Honor rates front page
Dear Editor:
I read your comments on the lack of enthusiasm for the Court of Honor in the editorial. I was surprised. I didn’t know that the court was going to honor anyone this year, or put the flags up with all the rain we have been having. I personally have three family members’ flags in that cemetery. I looked in the Red Oak Express for times a few days ahead of time and didn’t see anything saying where or when the event would take place this year. My brother went up to the cemetery on Memorial Day and called me saying there are no flags and no people there or at the school. So, I just figured it was called off because no one died to leave a flag to and it was called off because of rain.
After your comments I started to really dig into the paper and find the times slated for surrounding communities on page four. Page four...in tiny print all scrunched up with all the others. If you truly wanted this very special event to be attended you should have let people know. The front page would have been the best place to honor our veterans with honor court ceremonies; time, place, and rain place and time. Next year, front page please.
