Elpha L. Sickels, 93

Elpha L. Sickels, 93, Stanton, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society of Red Oak.

Elpha Lucille Mathers was born April 24, 1919, in Orient, the daughter of Ernest and Josephine (Adams) Mathers. She graduated from the Cromwell High School.

In 1936, Elpha married to Charles Edward Sickels in Cromwell. Elpha loved her family, singing, gardening and playing Scrabble in her free time. She will be known for being patient, being a hard worker and being very honest.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, five siblings, one grandson, one great-grandson and one son-in-law.

She is survived by six children, Sydney (Rita) Sickels of Winterset, Corlee Romines of Longview, Wash., Edward (Myrna) Sickels of Montesano, Wash., Sharon (Rick) Gustin of Kelso, Wash., Terry Sickels of Stanton and Charles Sickels of Longview; her 23 grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Cromwell Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Good Samaritan Society of Red Oak. Memories may be shared at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com. Roland - Ritchie Funeral Home of Corning are in charge of the arrangements.
