Friday Football: 8-Man Preview for Sept. 2

STANTON — After big wins last week, Stanton and Cumberland Anita Massena (CAM), will face each other at Stanton on Friday night.

Both teams had 30-plus point wins, last Friday. Stanton defeated the state finalist Lenox Tigers, 50-12, while CAM defeated Villisca, 47-12.

CAM won a week 0 game against Woodbine and will look to go 3-0 to start the season.

The Vikings defeated CAM last season, 42-27. Tyler Havrum had a big game for Stanton, rushing for 145 yards with five touchdowns. Greg Focht rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown.

Stanton had big rushing games against Lenox from Tyler Walter and Greg Focht, who were both shy of 100 yards rushing. Walter had three rushing touchdowns.

Dylan Amdor and Brady Runyan will lead the rushing attack for CAM. The duo have a combined 339 yards and seven rushing touchdowns.

In other 8-man District 8 action, East Mills looks to go 2-0 as they take on Lenox. Lenox is coming off the 50-12 loss to Stanton.

East Mills blew out Adair-Casey last Friday, 63-26. Luke Schafer had 307 yards passing with five touchdowns. The Wolverines have a chance to start the season 2-0 before next week's showdown at Stanton.

Villisca will be home to take on Melcher-Dallas. The Blue Jays won last year's match-up, 15-14. Melcher-Dallas is coming off a 44-30 win over East Greene.

Fremont-Mills will take on Adair-Casey. The Knights defeated East Union, 56-8, last Friday.

East Union will host Essex on Friday night. The Trojans are coming off the 70-50 shootout against Seymour, last Saturday.

Finally, Sidney will take on Lamoni. The Cowboys are coming off a 56-8 win over Heartland Christian.
