Sidney hands East Mills first Corner loss of season

Sidney handed the East Mills girls its first Corner Conference loss of the season in a 37-35 victory Friday in Malvern.
The Cowgirls outscored the Wolverines (8-3 overall, 5-1 in the conference) 16-10 after halftime in the win.
Caitlyn Crouse scored a game-high 19 points to lead East Mills. Isabella Blanton added six points.
Ashlyn Hayes led Sidney with 13 points off the bench.

East Mills scored the game’s first 16 points and cruised to a 58-22 win over Essex in Corner Conference girls basketball last Tuesday.
The Wolverines overwhelmed the short-handed Trojanettes – who are down to a six player roster – and led 23-4 at the end of the first quarter and 42-7 at the half.
“We still had pretty high expectations, regardless of winning and things like that,” said East Mills coach Lexi Moreno. “We still wanted to be able to follow our defensive principles and our face cutters and I don’t think we did our best there. I know we have a team bug kind of going around so the girls are getting tired pretty quickly and a little slower. Overall, we did all right.”
Caitlyn Crouse scored all 16 of her points in the first half to lead the Wolverines. Ellie Hagen added 14 points.
