Timberwolves fall in district opener

ACGC knocked off Southwest Valley 20-7 in the Class A, District 7 opener for both teams in Guthrie Center Friday.
The Timberwolves (2-1) got off to a slow start offensively and trailed 20-0 before finally finding the end zone in the fourth quarter.
The Chargers out-yarded Southwest Valley 267 to 216.
Wyatt Shires led the Timberwolves with 62 yards passing on 6-of-14 passing while rushing for 75 yards on 13 carries. Kaden Greenwalt had the lone touchdown on a 10-yard scamper.
Hoyt Mendenhall paced the Timberwolves defense with six solo tackles and a forced fumble.
Southwest Valley has this week off before resuming play on Sept. 18 at Riverside.
