Man charged with assaulting grandma

Police are accusing a Red Oak man of choosing a familiar face to assault and steal $11 from: his grandma.

Kiley Caron, 25, was arrested Thursday on domestic assault charges in connection with the May 10 assault in the 700 block of North Sixth Street.

The 81-year-old victim was cleaning her patio around 7 a.m. when Caron allegedly assaulted her and forced her inside her home.

While inside, her held down and demanded money while warning her “do not look at me, or I will shoot you.”

After taking the $11 the woman had, Caron fled the scene and despite a search by the Montgomery County K-9 unit, evaded arrest; at least for 11 days.

During his initial court appearance Friday, Caron pleaded not guilty to the charges and received a June 23 trial date. He is currently in custody at the Montgomery County Law Enforcement Center. According to the arrest report, he is in custody without a bond.

Caron had previously pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal mischief in 2011, and possession of a controlled substance in 2014, for which he served seven days in jail.
