Nick’s Picks vs. Charm’s Credence

Nick says:
Man, I remember when this thing started. It was 17 pages of sheets, and then it was over. Or so I thought.
Nope, now we’re into this whole playoff thing. Did we do this last year? I honestly don’t remember. We must have. I’m sure it’s nothing Charm would have sprung on me new.
So I got nine right last week, and apparently Charm got 10. Pretty good results considering I’m not a sports reporter, I’d say.
So without further ado, my sterling guesses for this upcoming playoff week.
Indianapolis/Houston: Colts.
Seattle/Dallas: Seahawks.
L.A. Chargers/Baltimore: Chargers.
Philadelpia/Chicago: Eagles.
 Charm says:
Woop! I know my boys did not need the win to make the playoffs, but boy am I thrilled that they won! Due to the win from Sunday, we earned a first-round bye for next week, and will host the divisional game on Jan. 12. We also swept the division, becoming just the 20th team in NFL histroy to do so!
Nick will get some relief because there won’t be as many games played each week. Of course, he will be very confused, too!
The bad thing about that, is that the last time the Rams had a bye, they played horribly for the next three weeks. That can NOT happen this time! You lose and the season is over. We need to stay on top of our game and continue to play like we did the first eight weeks this season!

Hopefully, I do a lot better next week. Of course, Nick thinks he did great with nine correct, but I am disheartened with my 10 correct.
Oh well.
Todd Gurley did not play, and once again CJ Anderson came through with some big numbers. Anderson gained 132 yards rushing on 23 carries with one TD. Cooks, JRey, Littleton, and Woods each had a stellar game; Donald got another sack; and Goff had his best showing of the season. (I still think he is worried about getting benched by me.)
Aaron Donald could have broken Michael Strahan’s sack record of 22.5 in a regular season. I was so excited when I first heard about this two weeks ago, and like the nerd I am, I started researching it. Turns out, some believe that Strahan’s record is a pile of poo anyway. Apparently, (remember, this is research not opinion) Brett Favre intentionally let Strahan sack him during the final minutes of a week 17 game so his friend could pass Mark Gastineau’s record. Now, I don’t remember the game, and I would never accuse Brett Favre of doing that, but there is plenty online about that particular sack.
As far as Aaron Donald goes, I have yet to read about a QB that wants to get sacked by him, no matter how close their friendship is.
AD recorded one sack in Sunday’s game, and although he did not break the record, no defensive tackle has had more than 18 sacks in a season; Donald just recorded his 20.5th sack. And he is usually double-teamed, and sometimes triple-teamed. He holds the game record of four sacks and six tackles for loss against the 49ers the first time they played this season.
The game was a fantastic way to finish out the regular season with two takeaways and two scores in the first five minutes of the game. Talk about a cardio workout! I jumped up and down so many times and waved the Rams towel in joy in the first five minutes of the game that I cleared the entire house! No kidding! Pdawg went to a friend’s house just to get away from the racket!
The Rams are seeded number two in the playoffs, behind those Saints that I can’t forgive! And now, I have to wait until Jan. 12 for a Rams game.
Meanwhile, I will keep reading about the possibility of AD becoming MVP of the NFL. I’m good with that!
