RED OAK — After starting their season 4-0, the Tigers lost their first game of the season Thursday to the Denison Monarchs, 8-2.

Starting pitcher Jackson Miller held the Monarchs to only one run in the first four innings, but the Denison batters started to catch up.

In the final three innings of the matchup, the Monarchs capitalized on six hits and four walks, scoring seven runs.

Denison also focused on the basepaths, manufacturing most of their runs off of their 10 stolen bases.

Last season, Denison advanced through the state playoffs, mostly through power hitting.

Red Oak will be finishing their long home-game stint with Glenwood Monday, followed by Lewis Central Thursday.

Lewis Central will be coming to town with a record of 7-3, with losses to Abraham Lincoln, Indianola, and Mason City.

Glenwood is still undefeated winning their first four games.
