Patricia "Pat" Vestal, 82

Patricia “Pat” Vestal, 82, Emerson, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Red Oak.
Patty was born June 29, 1943, in Red Oak, the daughter of Silas and Mable (Weston) Reynolds. She was raised in the Elliott area, graduating from Elliott High School in 1961. Pat worked in Omaha, Neb., at the Federal Reserve Bank before she was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Vestal on Jan. 27, 1962, in Elliott. They lived in Garland, Texas, for a short time before moving to the farm where they still reside. Over the years, Patty worked at the Emerson Café, part time at Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel, and most recently, Nishna Valley School where she was a wonderful cook and van driver for the students. She was a longtime member of the Emerson Baptist Church, the Baptist M & A, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, Jr. Choir Director, organized and sang in the Easter Cantata and Christmas Programs, and many other activities within the church. Pat was prom sponsor for 19 years, president of the Nishna Valley Athletic Association, vice-president of Nishna Valley Band Mothers, a 4-H leader, Mills County 4-H Teen Club Sponsor, and received the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame Award in 2025. Her greatest joy came from taking care of her home, her garden, and her family, especially the grandkids.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Alberta Vestal; her son, Brent Vestal; her siblings, Lucile Reynolds, Ed Reynolds, Caroline Hicks, Lyle Reynolds, Gail Reynolds, Elmer Reynolds, David “Butch” Reynolds; and her twin brother, Denny Reynolds; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Frances Reynolds, Mary Reynolds, Jim Hicks, Dick Milner, Cheryl Reynolds, Betty Howard, and Everett Howard.
Survivors include her husband, Charles “Chuck” Vestal of Emerson; daughters, Teresa Euken and husband Mark of Red Oak, and Brooke Thielen and husband Jeff of Glenwood; grandchildren, Whitney Grubbs of Council Bluffs; Bradley Euken and fiancé Caitlin Sifuentes of Chicago, Ill.; Austin Thielen of Asheville, N.C.; Aiden Thielen of Council Bluffs; Alek Thielen of Council Bluffs; Trenton Funk of Council Bluffs; Kylie Richardson of Ames; Cooper Thielen of Glenwood; Lance Vestal and wife Courtney of Malvern,; Corey Vestal and wife Tasha of Red Oak; Michael Smith and wife Amy of Oakland; James Smith and wife Nikki of Florida; and Steven Smith of Red Oak; brother, Les Reynolds of Omaha, Neb.; sister, Karen Milner of Elliott; sisters-in-law, Mary Reynolds of Omaha, Neb.; and Janis Reynolds of Omaha, Neb.; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service was held Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Indian Creek Museum.
