Steven Akers, 72

Steven Lowell Akers, 72, Red Oak, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength. Born on Oct. 18, 1953, in Montgomery County, Red Oak, Iowa, Steven lived a life rooted in hard work, family, and simple joys.
Steven was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and great-grandfather. He spent many years running his own paint business, taking pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way. Known for his steady nature and strong work ethic, Steven lived a humble and fulfilling life.
Together with his beloved wife, Sherry, Steven shared a passion for raising and showing quarter horses, a pursuit that brought them both pride and joy for many years. As time went on, their love for animals continued as they turned their attention to breeding their cherished Westwind Wheatens dogs, a hobby that reflected their shared dedication and care.
Steven is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Akers of Red Oak; his daughter, Michele Pohl and her husband, Charles, of Beaverton, Mich., along with their five children and 11 grandchildren; his son, Jeffrey Akers of Red Oak, and grandson, Christopher Akers. He is also survived by his brother, Tom Akers and wife Sue of Council Bluffs, and his sister, Linda Mitchell of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara Louise Cook and Cecil William Akers; his sister, Teresa Lee Akers; and his brother, Rick William Akers.
Steven will be remembered for his quiet spirit, his unwavering love for his family, and the life he built through dedication and care. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
