ACCIDENTS

• On Jan. 26, at about 8:01 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a single-vehicle accident at 200th Street and Highway 71. A 2002 Dodge Ram, driven by Daron Blackman, 34, Elliott, was traveling east on 200th Street when Blackman blacked out to due to an unknown medical condition. The vehicle ran the stop sign at Highway 71, entered the east ditch, and struck a road sign, a ground transformer, and multiple trees before coming to a stop. Blackman was transported to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital by Villisca Rescue. Damage to the sign is estimated at $500, the ground transformer at $3,000, and the vehicle at $7,000. Blackman was cited for failure to maintain control and failure to yield to a stop sign. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s office was assisted by Villisca Fire and Rescue, Red Oak Rescue, and Montgomery County Emergency Management.
