Sheriff’s Report

Filed June 19, at approximately 2:20 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a car vs. motorcycle accident at Hwy. 48 and 130th St.

A 1999 Ford Mustang owned and operated by Abigail Cook, age 16, of rural Emerson, made a left turn from 130th St. onto Hwy. 48, pulling into the path of a 1987 Yamaha motorcycle owned and operated by Larry Brown, age 49, of Griswold.

Brown layed the motorcycle down on the highway, resulting in just the motorcycle striking the Mustang.

Damage is estimated at $3,000 for the Mustang and $1,500 for the Yamaha.

Cook was issued citations for failure to yield upon entering through highway and failure to have insurance.

Brown was also cited for failure to have insurance.

Brown was checked at the scene for minor injuries by Red Oak Rescue, but refused transport.

Police Reports

Filed June 23, Kiley Brian Caron, the defendant, was a passenger in a car that was stopped by officers for violating a one way traffic designation.

The defedant was observed concealing an illegal substance, and was subsequently charged with:

- Possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, a serious misdemeanor.

- Interference with official acts - a simple misdemeanor.

The defendant is being held in the Montgomery County Jail  on $1,000 bond.

Filed June 27, officers were called to the 1500 block of North 1st Street for a burglary.

The victim had caught an individual, Thomas Lee Curtis, looking through his vehicle and was able to detain him while his wife called the police.

Officers arrived and took the offender into custody.

Officers searched the area and found three other vehicles in the 100 block of West Walnut that had also been rummaged through.

The defendant will be charged with four counts of burglary.

He was being held at the Montgomery County Jail on $5,000 bond at the time of this report.
