Red Oak teams honored academically
RED OAK — Several spring sports from Red Oak High School received academic honors from the state athletic associations.
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) presented the Excellence Award to the track and tennis teams.
To receive this award, a team needs to achieve a cumulative GPA between 3.2 and 3.6. The tennis team's GPA was 3.576, while the track team's was 3.572.
The Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) gave out the Distinguished Award to the boys tennis team. The boys tennis team had a team GPA of 3.512. To receive the Distinguished Award, a team needs a cumulative GPA of anything above 3.25.
The IHSAA also gave out the Excellence Award to the boys' golf and track teams. The Excellence Award is given to teams that achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to 3.24.
The golf team's GPA was 3.242 and the track team's GPA was 3.114.
