Stanton’s season ends in district loss to South Page
COLLEGE SPRINGS — The 2012-13 Stanton boys basketball season came to an end last Thursday when they lost in the 1A district quarterfinals to South Page in double overtime 54-50.
The game went back and forth between the two teams. South Page led by three points at halftime, but Stanton had a one point lead entering the fourth quarter.
Stanton and South Page scored a combined eight points in the first overtime.
The difference was the second overtime when South Page outscored the Vikings 8-4.
Stanton was led by Jeff Marshall, who had 13 points and 13 rebounds. Brady Johnson also had 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the win. David Sorensen scored nine points.
Leading the way for South Page was Zackery Neihart, who scored 26 points and had nine rebounds.
South Page advances on to the district semifinal Tuesday night as they will face Villisca.
Stanton finishes the season with a 5-15 record. They’ll lose three seniors for next season, including Marshall, Allen Hamilton and Collin Strickland.
