 Shenandoah

Tuesday night, the Tigers defeated the Shenandoah Mustangs, 5-1.

The game began slowly with no score until the top of the fourth when the Mustangs put the lone run on the board. That was all the Tigers allowed as they turned around and scored all five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

West led the offense by going 1-3 with a double. Taylor, Messinger and Bower each had a single.

The win went to Guerra as a relief pitcher. He struck out five and only walked one.

Bower pitched 3 1/3 strong innings, striking out three while walking only one. The pitching pair held the Mustangs to 4-26 at bat.

“This was the ultimate team win as everyone on the team was able to contribute in a positive way with their focus on the mound, on defense, at the plate, or on the bench,” coach Mark Erickson said. “It was nice to add this one to the win column as we had felt like we’d played pretty good baseball as of late, but not much to show for it record wise.”

Atlantic

The Tigers lost to Atlantic Friday, 8-6. Jesse Taylor and Guerra saw action on the mound.

Guerra gave up two hits and struck out two. He was 2-4 with an RBI.

Mario Lepe went 3-4 with two RBI, and Taylor went 1-3 with a double.

“Tonight was one of our first nights when we were able to string some hits together and take advantage of our opponent’s mistakes,”Coach Erickson said.
