Tigers fall to state-ranked teams

COUNCIL BLUFFS — The Red Oak Tigers baseball team lost to two state-ranked teams in the last week.

The losses started Red Oak lost at home to the No. 4 team in the state, the Glenwood Rams, 18-1.

The game was moved to 5:30 p.m. due to the threat of rain.
A passing shower in the first inning caused the game to be delayed for more than 10 minutes.

Glenwood scored early, maintaining their lead early on and never looked back.

Nick Leinen scored the lone run for the Tigers, doing so on a balk by pitcher Corey Bertini, in the bottom of the first.

Red Oak lost to 4A-ranked Lewis Central on Friday, 16-1.

The Tigers were slated to play Treynor last Wednesday, but the game was postponed due to a scheduling conflict on Treynor’s end.

No official make-up date for the game has been announced.

Red Oak is now 2-14 for the season. The Tigers last win came on May 31.

Red Oak will travel East on US-34 Tuesday and face the Creston Panthers.

The Tigers will be home again Thursday to take on the Harlan Cyclones. It’s Red Oak’s first time playing Harlan this season.
