Tigersharks advance nine to YMCA State

RED OAK – The Montgomery County YMCA Tigershark swim team will be advancing nine swimmers to the State Meet March 6-7.
The state-bound Tigersharks consist of swimmers ranging from elementary to high school students.
Sunday, Feb. 14, the Tigersharks competed at sectionals with a total of 687 swimmers, to reach the state level.
Madison Wendt qualified for the 50-yard backstroke, 25-yard butterfly, and 50-yard freestyle for racers eight and under.
Sydnee Esaias will compete in the 50-yard freestyle and 50-yard backstroke in the 11-12 age group.
Sydney Sallach will be busy competing in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races, 100-yard backstroke with the 12-13 year-olds. She will also be in the 12-and-over 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay with teammates Allison England, Brandy Childers, and Molly Thomas.
England is also in the 12-and-over 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle.
Thomas will be competing in the 12-and-over 100-yard individual medley and the 50 and 100-yard breaststroke.
On the boys' side, Brody Swanson will be competing in the 12-and-over 50-yard freestyle along with the 50 and 100-yard butterfly. He is also on the boys' 12-and-over medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay with Dillon Fenn, Alex Jorgensen and John Childers.
The swimmers' state meet will be the conclusion to a six-month indoor swimming program through the YMCA.
The State meet will be held at the Marshalltown YMCA March 6-7.
