Trojanettes win two of three for the week
SIDNEY — The Essex Trojanettes are now 4-3 for the season after winning two of three games for the week.
Their most recent game was Friday night, as they lost 7-6 on the road to Sidney. The Cowgirls scored three runs in the sixth inning to pull away with the victory.
Essex had a 5-3 lead through two innings and added a sixth run in the fourth.
Daiton Martin led the Essex hitters by going 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Kym Graham and Bethany Johnson both went 1-for-4 with a run scored. Ausha Gay was 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI. Sara Skalberg meanwhile was 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Jescenia Mosley, Devan Gray and Ciara Burnison all had hits in the game.
Essex had its two wins on the road last week against Nishnabotna and Red Oak.
The Nishnabotna win came last Monday when they defeated the Blue Devils 14-5.
Essex compiled 14 total hits in the game, as three players each had three hits.
Mosley was the most noteworthy, as she went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and three more driven in.
Gray also went 3-for-4 and had a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. Skalberg was also 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two more driven in and a double.
Martin went 2-for-5 with a triple, a walk, three runs scored and four stolen bases. Graham and Burnison both went 1-for-5 with a run scored. Amber Ohnmacht went 1-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Last Wednesday, Essex defeated Red Oak 12-4. The difference in the game was the eight runs scored in the sixth and seventh inning by the Trojanettes.
Ohnmacht led the way by going 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Johnson went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs. Mosley and Skalberg both went 2-for-4 with each scoring a run, while Martin went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Essex looked to get back into the win column Monday night when they traveled to Malvern to face East Mills.
