Vikings win all three; Viqueens fall short in conference action

The Stanton Vikings stomped East Mills 12-2 in conference action last week.
The Vikings, coming off of their first loss of the season, were down 2-1 at the bottom of the second before opening up the offense in the third and never looking back.
Donnie Weis recorded the win for the Vikes going five innings from the mound and striking out eight Wolverines in the process.
Drake Johnson pitched one inning of relief striking out two.
Johnson paced the Vikes going three of three at bat including a home run.
Tanner Anderson and Tyler Peterson each hit a double and plated two runs apiece.
Johnson scored three runs, while Keygan Day, Weis, Austin Houston, Thomas Bates, and Noah Kammerer each scored one run.
In the loss, Raymond Roberson drove in the only two runs for East Mills with a two RBI triple.
Anthony Rainey went two of three with a double.
Trevor Glockel and Riley Story plated once each.
Dylan Schroeder recorded the loss, surrendering eight hits along with seven runs, three earned. He walked four and struck out four Vikes.
Glockel and Jackson Wray each pitched one inning relief.
Orient-Macksburg
Colby Royal recorded the win in the 18-1 rout of Orient-Macksburg, pitching four innings while surrendering three hits along with one run, which was earned. Royal walked one and struck out four.
The Vikings combined for two runs in the first and third innings and seven runs each in innings two and four. Day led the offense going two of two at bats and scoring four runs.
D. Johnson scored three runs, Weis, Noah Kammerer, and Royal two each, and Tyler Peterson, Cam Walter, Thomas Bates, Austin Houston, and Tanner Anderson plated one run apiece.
Sidney
The Vikes hosted the Sidney Cowboys Friday, winning at home 11-8.
The game was knotted three all at the end of three innings. The Vikings added two runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 5-3 lead, and the fifth frame held both teams scoreless.
The Cowboys surged in the sixth inning, plating five runs and taking the lead for the first time in the game, but the Vikings answered in the bottom of the inning with six runs of their own, and held the Cowboys in the seventh.
Weis started the game on the mound, throwing four innings with six strikeouts before being relieved by Johnson, who closed the game out and struck out three Cowboys.
Peterson went three for three with one double and two singles and crossed home three times to lead the offense.
Day hit a double and scored one run.
Johnson added two runs, and Weis, Anderson, Houston, Bates, and Royal added one run each.
The Vikings hold a 6-1 record.

Girls
The East Mills softball team picked up their second win with a 14-10 victory over Stanton.
Brooklyn Adams recorded the loss with Savanna Moffett pitching 1/3 inning of relief.
The Viqueens scored three to start the game and added two more runs before the Wolverines got on the board in the bottom of the second with two runs of their own.
The East Mills bats lit up in the third, adding six runs to take the 8-5 lead.
The teams exchanged runs throughout the last four innings, but East Mills’ third inning rally was too much for the Queens to come back from.
Adams doubled and Shelby Brockshus hit two singles for three RBI to pace the Viqueens.
Maddie Johnson collected three RBI.
Adams scored three runs, followed by two each from Devin Isaacson and Kaitlyn Bruce. Tara Peterson, Brockshus, and Tibben each added one run for the Viqueens.
Rachel Schafer recorded the win for the Wolverines, pitching a complete game.
Offensively, Kinley Chickering doubled and Raili Jentzch hit two doubles to pace East Mills.
Megan Hossle scored three runs and earned two RBI; Madison Williams, Chickering, and Jentzch each plated twice, and Gracee Meyer, Alex Knop, Rachel Drake, Schafer, and Shellby Moore added one run apiece.
Orient Macksburg
The Viqueens bounced back with a 15-8 win last Wednesday.
Adams picked up the win in the circle and had six strikeouts.
Johnson, Moffett, and Kaitlyn Bruce all doubled to lead the offense.
Sidney
The Viqueens took a 3-0 lead in the first three frames before falling 8-3 to the Sidney Cowgirls.
A five-run seventh inning sealed the win for the 9-3 Cowgirls.
Peterson, Brockshus, and Isaacson each scored a run for the Queens.
Adams pitched 6 1/3 innings, walking five, and Moffett pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one and walking four.
