The Business and Accounting Department at Iowa Western Community College has named Rebecca Hatfield from Red Oak as one of its Outstanding Business Students for the 2008-2009 school year.
The following awards were given to Red Oak High School 2009 graduates on Saturday, May 9:
Ames edged Red Oak in the final team standings of the fourth annual Des Moines Lincoln Invitational Tournament on May 9.
The tournament was held at Simpson College in Indianola.
The Griswold boys track team placed first or second in 14 of 18 events to take home the team title at the Red Raider Relays in Corning on May 7.
The Villisca track team took home the team title at the Trojan Relays last Tuesday.
The East Mills girls racked up 101 team points to win the team title at the Trojanette Relays at Essex last Tuesday.
Air Force Staff Sgt. Gabriel R. Craig has arrived for duty at Whiteman Air Force Base, Knob Noster, Mo.
Robert D Keeton, previously from Shenandoah and College Springs, graduated from Great Lakes Navy Training Center, near Chicago, on May 8.
What an honor it was for me to accompany over a hundred World War II veterans to and from Washington, D.C. on May 5. Though it was a very full day, it was wonderfully rewarding.
The city has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry. It is the 16th year Red Oak has received this national distinction.
