CEDAR RAPIDS -- The Stanton Viqueens volleyball team lost Wednesday afternoon in the 1A state quarterfinals against LeMars Gehlen Catholic 3-1.
The Red Oak volleyball season came to an end Wednesday afternoon when the Tigers lost in the 3A quarterfinals to Hawkeye 10 rival Kuemper Catholic, 3-1, at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.<

Both Red Oak and Stanton play Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the state volleyball tournament.

Lee Eugene Strickland, 81, Stanton, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at his home after an extended illness.
William Henry Dumler, 76, Villisca, died Nov. 9, 2013 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.
Richard Harley Bangston, 63, Villisca, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013.
