City officials issue yard waste advisory
Red Oak officials remind citizens that open burning of landscape waster and residential waster is prohibited within the city limits of Red Oak. The city has provided a yard waste site for the citizen’s usage of this type of waste.
The site is located to the west of the city’s street/water and wasterwater department buildings, which are located at the west end of A Street. Directions to the waste dump site: From Broadway, turn west onto 2nd Avenue, follow 2nd Avenue around the curve and over the railroad tracks. Leaves and grass are to be dumped in the area to your left and brush is to be dumped in the area to your right. Plastic bags must be removed and taken with you.
Also a reminder, it is against city ordinance to place leaves or grass clippings in city streets. Please make every effort not to discharge clippings onto streets; this will assist the city in keeping the storm drains clean and clear.
Finally, with the onset of nicer weather, more pet owners will be taking their animals for walks. By city code, it is the responsibility of pet owners to pick up and remove feces from any public or private property and dispose of it. Please be prepared when entering parks, public property or the private property of others.
If you are in violation of the prohibition of open burning, discharging yard waste onto a street or failure to pick up animal defecation, an officer or designated city employee shall provide the owner or tenant a notice warning of the violation and/or ticket for the violation.
The city wishes to thank you for your cooperation of these ordinances. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact City Hall at 623-6510.
