Three Tigers on All-Hawkeye 10 second teams

Red Oak’s Brett Erickson, Carson Roeder and Alexis Joint were named to the All-Hawkeye 10 Conference Baseball and Softball teams released last week.
Erickson and Roeder were selected for the all-conference baseball second team. Roeder, the Tigers’ catcher, hit a team-best .371 while driving in 13 runs. Erickson hit .287 while going 2-4 on the mound with 39 strikeouts in 40 innings of work.
Glenwood’s Ryan Turner and Benne Christiansen, Council Bluffs Lewis Central’s Brady Hetzel, Blake Fort, Owen Duffek and Aaron Kreps, Harlan’s Hayden Soma and Colton Schneider, Atlantic’s Kale Jensen, Creston’s Parker Varner and Tom Mikkelsen, Council Bluffs St. Albert’s Owen Marshall and Jeremiah Sherrill, Kuemper Catholic’s Mason Knerl and Clarinda’s Kort Neal made up the baseball first team selections.
Soma and Hetzel earned unanimous first team nods.
Soma, a catcher, hit .414 with a league-best five home runs and 41 RBIs. Hetzel went 7-1 on the mound with 1.21 ERA in 11 starts.
Glenwood’s Allison Koontz, Atlantic’s Zoey Kirchoff, Peyton McLaren, Makenna Schroeder and Lila Wiederstein, Clarinda’s Addison Wagner and Janessa Woolsey, Creston’s Ava Adamson, Taryn Frederickson and Avery Staver, Denison’s Taylor Walker, Council Bluffs Lewis Central’s Aubree Davis, Cami Damgaard, and Alyssa Griffin, Shenandoah’s Peyton Athen and Council Bluffs St. Albert’s Ella Narmi were tabbed for the softball first team.
Wiederstein, Adamson and Davis were unanimous selections by all conference coaches.
Davis won the conference’s “triple crown,” winning the league’s batting title (.688) and leading the conference in home runs (16) and runs driven in (59).
Joint was a second team selection as a catcher. The senior led the Tigers with .375 batting average and 16 RBIs.
Red Oak’s Brody Bond and Reese Montgomery were tabbed as honorable mention selections.
