Tigers fall on road in tennis opener
The Red Oak High School girls’ tennis team traveled to Audubon for its season opening match last Monday.
Audubon swept the singles matches and took two of three doubles matches to pick up the 8-1 win.
“The scores may have favored Audubon in several matches, but they do not tell the whole story,” said Red Oak coach Luis MacDonald. “The matches were strong and fun to watch, with both teams playing hard throughout the day. Our players showed a lot of determination and continued competing through the difficult conditions.”
BreeAnna Cech and Ana Torres notched the lone win for the Tigers with an 8-0 No. 3 doubles victory over the Wheelers’ Emma Pryor and Roslyn Muhlbauer.
“This was only our first matchup, and the girls showed plenty of heart,” MacDonald said. “I am excited to see how the team continues to improve throughout the season.”
