Mikki Chavanu, 77

Mikki C. (Enarson) Chavanu, 77, of Kearney, Neb., passed away July 18, 2026, at the UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colo. A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.
 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made in Mikki’s memory to Kearney Catholic High School. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services.
 Mikki was born Aug. 9, 1948 in Clarinda, to Millard and Mildred (Reed) Enarson. She attended Villisca Community Schools, graduating in 1966. Mikki later attended the Institute of Medical Laboratory Technique where she earned her degree as a Laboratory Technician. In 1969, Mikki was united in marriage to James Chavanu. She worked for many years at Family Practice Associates.
 Mikki enjoyed quilting, cruising, camping at the lake, and watching her granddaughters dance. She was also an avid reader of mystery novels where she always read the last chapter first.
 Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jim Chavanu of Kearney; son, Patrick (Katie) Chavanu of Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Olivia, Madeline, and Sophia Chavanu; sisters, Marcia (Mark) Steffensen of Council Bluffs, Marta (Tom) Novotny of Lincoln; brothers, Mark Enarson of Kearney, and Mason Enarson of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Pat Nelson of Kearney; and several nieces and nephews. Mikki was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Michael Enarson.
