Sports Calendar: May 7 tentative schedule

2:33 p.m. Update: We only have one announcment as of now. The Griswold golf meet against IKM-Manning has been canceled.

There's quite a bit on the calendar for Thursday. However, with chances of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast, plus rain overnight, events could change. We'll update those changes here, should any announcements pop up.

The big track meet in the area for Thursday will take place in Glenwood as the Hawkeye 10 meets take place. Red Oak will be among the 11 teams in action.

There are several contenders for conference titles at the meet, including Kate Walker and Logan LeRette. Walker is among the top runners in the conference for the 400, 800 and 1,500 races. LeRette meanwhile is among the top runners in the 1,600 race.

Gabe Nelson, a high jumper who has been among the top five in the conference, is also a possible contender.

The meet starts at 4:30 p.m. If the meet gets postponed, the rain date will be Monday at 4:30 p.m.

The only other track meet on the schedule for Thursday takes place in Corning as Southwest Valley hosts the boys meet. Griswold, Essex and Stanton are scheduled to be there as the meet starts at 4:30 p.m.

Elsewhere, the Red Oak tennis teams will be playing when they take on Harlan. As of now, the boys are home and the girls go to Harlan. The meets start at 4:30 p.m.

The Southwest Valley tennis teams will be playing, but at different locations. The boys go to Clarke and start at 4:30 p.m., while the girls go to Mount Ayr and start at 5 p.m.

Finally, the Griswold golf teams will be home as they host IKM-Manning. The meet starts at 4 p.m.
